Keeping Kids With Type One Diabetes Safe At School

The American Diabetes Association has developed a Safe At School program based on federal law. Federal law gives students the right to receive the diabetes care they need to be safe and participate in school activities just like any other child. Ana Reinhardt is a certified Safe At School advocate passionate about giving parents the right tools to become their child’s best advocate.

We will be discussing the following topics:

1. Idaho State Law
2. Federal Law 
3. DDMP 
4. Section 504 Plan
5. Field trips and extracurricular activities
6. Proper planning, education, training, and communication with school staff
